Front Porch Political Talk Episode 51: Someone Thinks It's Okay

Late getting this episode to the site as well… the busy season at work is almost over and I apologize for the delays. Yes, the articles definitely pointed out things that someone thought were okay. I'm not sure that we agreed in all cases.

Articles for Front Porch Political Talk #51: Someone Thinks It's Okay

Most people, especially those in a positions of authority, rarely do anything without either approval or review. When they do, colleagues are often quick to endorse the decisions that are made regardless of consequence. In this episode we are looking at decisions that were made that someone thought were okay. Do we agree?

Front Porch Political Talk Episode 8: Do We Really Want Change?

So we had great conversation about whether or not folks really do want change.  From that discussion the answer is yes with an asterisk.  That asterisk is because the people that have to be elected work very hard to ensure that they stay elected, even if that means not taking true action on the things that they talk about "fixing."

Articles for Front Porch Political Talk #8: Do We Really Want Change?

There's been a lot of talk about changing things and fixing problems but it seems like a lot of people don't truly want this to happen. In this episode we are going to look at a number of examples of this based on CPAC and other actions from the past week.

We're also moving forward with the website changeover, some updates in Second Life and additional items.  A plan for three main sponsorship levels is being worked on with very affordable membership levels.  Once those are does we'll share them with everyone.

Episode 345: Let's Just Talk

This episode went better than planned. It didn't exactly follow the article list but we did talk about them. Two new things were introduced as well, the Mad Lib opening as well as the Constitutional Quiz Cards. Both worked well as a part of the show.

I'll be posting the words for next week's Mad Lib on Wednesday or Thursday. You can be a part of the show by adding your words! The more we get the more interesting the results can be!

Episode 329: Can't Want That

This was another one of those episodes where we started with a plan and veered off of it from the beginning.  Making it through two of the nine articles on the list, we had a long discussion about education, common core, work ethic and even had some welfare and military discussion in the mix. It's a lively examination from different perspectives (we're not in lock-step) about where America is, where it needs to go and what methods work (or don't) to get there. There are also some gratuitous Spaceballs references and the homework assigned is to go watch the movie!

The biggest thing that came out of this episode is that after 328 recordings and conversations, my wife finally decided that she wanted to join in for an extended comment. I'll try to get her involved in the future but the one main article we got to is a huge subject for her.

Episode 326: Talking About Justice

Justice, it seems, comes in many different shapes and sizes. We started off the conversation with a good discussion about areas where the, "right thing" was done… and then there was the conversation about welfare in Louisiana. There was a good counter-point brought up by Toawa with regards to the concept of controlling where people spend their money regardless of source.

Where do you see justice being served correctly? What about abuses of the system or trying to use the system to create abuse? Let us know! We'd love to see some comments on the articles we posted.

Articles for Episode 326: Talking About Justice

There are times when justice is served and times when it is abused. In this episode we are going to be looking at both of these scenarios tonight including a case of poetic justice that cannot be missed.

Sadly, this will be our last episode on the Boost Radio Network.  I want to thank the station for their support and the opportunity to learn more about both the radio industry as a whole and content placement concepts as a whole.  We will continue to play on the Red State Talk Radio network and be available, as always, in podcast form.

Episode 316: Myth Busting

This turned out to be one of those episodes where working the title into the conversation really didn't work out so well. That's okay because there was plenty to talk about and it was generally on-topic. No big surprise that we didn't make it through all of the articles for this week which means there's always a chance they will be brought up further down the line.

We are now a part of the Boost Radio Network! The fundraising goal for the first quarter was met but there is still a long way to go to cover the entire year. If you want to help take the podcast to the next level, please click the "GoFundMe" button on the right. And yes, that is Ken driving a boat in the picture (or at least pretending to)!

Articles for Episode 316: Myth Busting

There are historical inaccuracies that get repeated so often that they become accepted as truths. In this episode we look at a number of them that span the political gamut from the NSA to poverty to jobs to climate change and even the economy.

Thanks to your support, this episode will be our first to air on the Boost Radio Network! We will be playing from 7-8pm on Wednesday nights and look forward to a strong working relationship with the hosts. This does not mean that our fundraising campaign is done though, as we still have three more quarters to fully fund. If you would like to donate use the link on the right hand side of the site. Articles for Episode 307: Following the Rules

After our last few episodes I think it's time to take a look at some areas where rules, both new and old, are sometimes followed and sometimes broken. We've got a number of stories on a variety of topics to talk about. It promises to be a fun time!

Episode 305: Compliance Factor

Happy Halloween! My apologies again on the delay of posting the episode. I should be back on my regular posting schedule starting with the next episode.  We made it through more of the articles and had a good discussion, the biggest question of compliance seems to be with some newly enacted laws.  I also have to share that, given the opening article, my son is going at Darth Vader for Halloween.

Articles for Episode 305: Compliance Factor

After talking about the concepts of the "Thought Police" last week, I thought it would be fitting to take a look at some areas where compliance is necessary. This necessity is driven either by requirement or in some cases common sense. In this episode we'll be looking at quite a few different items that have been brought up over the past few weeks, not all of them health care related.

Articles for this episode:
There were a lot of other articles to read throughout the week.  Here are a few that are worthy of giving another look:

Episode 296: Roles

This was a rather interesting episode. We didn't make it through all of the articles but that's not a big surprise. The articles clearly pointed out a point that government has expanded well beyond its originally designed role set.

I did assign a bit of homework with this episode. Write down the job descriptions for elected officials you can think of without looking them up, then go online and check your work. I mentioned President, Federal Senator and Representative, State Senator and Representative and Governor. If you have other offices you want to look up feel free!

It's time for a new book recommendation from our sponsor! You can get a free 30 day trial at Audible.com as well as a free audio book by going to http://www.audibletrial.com/eastcoastconservative and signing up. I've been using my Audible subscription to listen to The Liberty Amendments by Mark Levin. They list not only the changes that Mr. Levin recommends but also the historical back-story for each one. This listening experience will have any jaw on the floor, both with where the country has gone and where politicians promise to take it. We'll actually be taking some time during upcoming episodes to discuss these proposals at length, so if you want to participate in them take advantage of an Audible credit and get the book now!

Articles for Episode 296: Roles

When we look at current events through the lens of history, we see that that changes in our country have come from many places. Both those politicians that would push a Progressive agenda and citizenry that are either idly or actively complicit are to blame.

If you ask the "man on the street" what the job description for various elected offices are, I'm pretty sure you would get a wide array of answers. The same is true if you asked candidates or elected officials. The sad thing is, most of them would be incorrect. In this episode we're going to talk about the roles of various offices as they have been interpreted and implemented. Articles for this episode:

Episode 287: Twisted Reality

A lively conversation from the start! Some of us were worried that the strange tales our articles explained would make heads melt while others said it was nothing out of the ordinary. Take a listen for yourself and decide which!

My apologies for the late posting. The end of the school year has had our schedules a bit twisted.

Articles for Episode 287: Twisted Reality

As the news week started for this episode, I felt my reality getting turned upside down. The articles for this episode reflect some of the reasons for that. We've got examples of people sounding like their ideological opposites and a view of legal rights that downright scary.
