Articles for Front Porch Political Talk #88: Unrealistic Expectations

The voting is done and the polls are closed, Americans have voiced their choices and the results have had some interesting impacts. In this episode we're going to look at a number of articles touching on the election, Veteran's Day, civics and more.

There are also some other big things going on. This is going to be the last scheduled podcast for this month due to scheduling conflicts all around. The Facebook page is going to see more activity but the weekly show is taking a break until the first Sunday in December. Additionally, we're changing venues in SecondLife effective tonight. I'll be taking the next two weeks to get things sorted out. Articles for this episode:
Of course other things were going on this week, here are some other articles for your reading:

Front Porch Political Talk Episode 67: All-Access Discomfort

If I could describe this episode in one word, it would have to be insightful. We were joined this week by my good friend David Oatney who shared some interesting insights into the process and repercussions of the primary process. It was also what I would call a "full-spectrum" process that included both good and bad viewpoints on the world as it is today.

Articles for Front Porch Political Talk #67: All-Access Discomfort

It seems like the standard operating plan for most political types is to make sure that at least some of their electorate is uncomfortable about something. In this episode we are looking at a few examples of that and the impact it may have in November. Articles for this episode:
A couple of selacious extra articles this week.

Front Porch Political Talk Episode 49: Knowing What to Say

This was an interesting show for interesting times. We hit a lot of the articles and I think much of the conversation was a bit different than where some of our previous calls have gone. In short, I think we realized what to say and when.

Articles for Front Porch Political Talk #49: Knowing What to Say

Different times call for different approaches for issues that arise. As we head into another election year I felt it would be a good idea to look at some different situations and evaluate the things that were said about them. Were they the right words or do they only serve to intensify the strain in the nation and around the world?

Articles for Front Porch Political Talk #45: Losing Patience

After being subjected to a wide number of political comments, debates and retorts I am beginning to lose my patience. In this episode we are going to talk about a few of the subjects that have raised my blood pressure and search for resolution.

Articles for Front Porch Political Talk #43: Ed You Cate Shun

Given the events of this past week, I felt we needed to focus on education and learning some more about the world around us. To that end we are looking at a number of articles that we can take at least something away from.

While our thoughts and prayers are with those that have been impacted by the terror attacks in France, I made the conscious decision not to focus on them in the podcast. There are a few reasons for this, including the fact that the details of the situation are still being sorted out. There are plenty of people that have already jumped on various bandwagon topics and that's not where I want to be right now.

Articles for this episode:
I had enough articles this week to come up with two complete shows. I've included more than usual only because there was a lot going on this past week. They either didn't fit the topic or weren't enough to make the list.

Front Porch Political Talk Episode 13: Getting the Story Straight

This was a good episode from a content perspective but I found audio "glitches" on the production side. In fact it was so bad that this episode did not make it to Red State Talk Radio. All that said I felt the conversation was cohesive enough and the message important enough to release it to podcast subscribers.

Episode 341: Yeah, They Went There

Man, when I say that we went there, we went all the way there! This episode covers the map including subjects that were and were not included on our article list. We hit on presidential candidates, computer games, the belly-button inspection (aka Selfie) trend among American citizens... and even some of the things we meant to.

Articles for Episode 341: Yeah, They Went There

Sometimes we look at something and ask, "did they really 'go there'?" This generally means that whoever was talking or writing took the thought to an unexpected conclusion or thread. We do this a lot with our friend Joesf, actually! Tonight we're going to look at some articles outlining where the political left has been taking things. We'll see if they garner similar responses.

Articles for this episode:
These extra articles are also sources of ire for a variety of reasons.

Episode 339: Fighting For Freedom... or Something

We actually managed to stay mostly on subject for this episode, which as regular listeners know is difficult in many situations. This group of articles provided some good launching points for further conversation in the future and I hope we are able to revisit them if they come up again. I'm certain that many of them will!

Episode 337: Things We Learn

This was an extremely educational recording session and a wide array of subjects was covered. I made the comment that I learn something from each episode and this was absolutely no exception.

The quote for the week from this episode comes to us from Joesf regarding the "Jesus was a Socialist" article: "Just because Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey doesn't mean he was a Democrat."

Episode 335: Missing the Point

Wow, give us a week off and a good topic and we come out swinging! This was an absolute blast of a podcast and we managed to get through some of the most interesting articles before I had to call time.

In this episode we discussed a number of different articles that had more than one point, regardless of how the author wanted things to be read. We worked hard not to miss them but have a listen and let us know if something fell through the cracks.

There are times when we start talking about something and discover that one or more of us missed the major point in an article. In this episode we are going to look at a number of articles and hope that the point is not missed, either by ourselves or others.

Things have stabilized around here and we should not have any surprise missing episodes moving forward. Thank you for your understanding last week, it really was unavoidable. Articles for this episode:

Episode 306: Doubling Down

The politicians are doubling down and so are we! We had a lively discussion in this episode that included lots of laughs and some serious moments as well.

One of the interesting questions raised by Larry is what's going to happen in the future to the people pushing some of these questionable agendas. Sadly we can only assume the answer for the moment will be, "nothing."

Articles for Episode 306: Doubling Down

Given the season and the recent political events, you might expect that folks might take a bit of a breather. You'd be wrong. Politicians from both sides of the aisle are doubling down on their stances. In some cases they're bringing more evidence and in others they're standing by their claims. There are even some that are backpedaling to revise what they said to match reality.

In this episode we're going to be discussing a few different items that give examples of this. It's always an interesting discussion and we hope you can join us any Sunday night at 8:30pm eastern! Articles for this episode:
