Front Porch Political Talk Episode 82: Words to Use

We managed to return to civility for this episode and there was a lot of ground covered as well! There were a few tangents but nothing that completely kept us off the original concept of the show.

Articles for Front Porch Political Talk #82: Words to Use

Politicians normally take a great amount of care in selecting which words to use down to the emphasis and volume. In this episode we're going to look at some events of the last week and figure out where that skill disappeared to. Articles for this episode:
Of course other things were going on this week, here are some other articles for your reading:

Front Porch Political Talk Episode 18: Love and Understanding

I don't know that we actually ended up with a lot of love but there's much more understanding. We got through a number of the articles on the list while having a lot of fun.

Articles for Front Porch Political Talk #18: Love and Understanding

One of the challenges of political discussions is the lack of understanding that one side has of the other. In this episode we are going to look at some articles that should help us better understand the stance on a number of issues. Whether we are talking about political opponents, activists or terrorists there is some level of rationale, misguided as it may be, behind their actions. This is not to say that we're headed for some kind of "kumbayah" moment at the end of the recording, rather the goal is to glean the method to their madness.

These extra articles are worth including even though they didn't fall in with the show's theme for the night:

Front Porch Political Talk Episode 17: Setting the Stage

The stage was set for a fun episode and I think we delivered on that promise. As usual we did not make it through all of the articles but we did have fun discussing the ones we got to.  I think one of the best aspects of our round-table is that the opinions shared cover a range of viewpoints.  This can be seen during our discussion regarding the Baltimore "protests".

Articles for Front Porch Political Talk #17: Setting the Stage

To paraphrase the Bard: "All the world is a stage and all the people merely its players." In this episode we're going to look at the stage that is being set or walked by interesting people in the news.

Episode 336: One Word Descriptions

This was another fun episode to record with a "cliff-hanger" question at the end due to time constraints. Amazingly enough there were very few tangents and while we didn't get through all of the articles on the list we made it through most of them!

Articles for Episode 336: One Word Descriptions

The media likes to use as few words as possible in order to ensure they grab the audience's attention. In this episode we look at an assortment of articles and work to put one or maybe two words out there to describe our reactions. The topics may be varied but we're going to work to make sure that they don't get glossed over because of too many words. Articles for this episode:
There were a few others that we couldn't fit in to the list but still need a categorization. Here they are:

Articles for Episode 329: Can't Want That

One of the cutest things I've heard was my then 4 year old nephew say, "can't want that!" He was talking about a bad thing happening and he had the perfect answer for it. In this episode we're going to look at a number of different articles that would bring out the same response.

As an administrative note, I'm working on changing the way show notes, articles and episode posts are presented here on the site. It may be more advantageous to go back to having a single post per week with both the links to the articles as well as the audio file itself. I'd like to get some feedback before implementing this change so please let me know what you think by emailing conservativepodcast@gmail.com. Thank you!

Episode 324: Shameful Actions

This was a fun episode! It was interesting to see the take that different audience members had on the t-shirt story as well as the whistleblower concept. Also, there's a shocker in this one where I actually agree with Senator Gillibrand!

Personal issues on my side kept me from posting until today. As I wrap up my MBA I may be behind on posting but the recordings are definitely being made.

Articles for Episode 324: Shameful Actions

As we look through the articles this week we see examples of shameful, or at least what should be considered it, activity on a lot of different fronts. We're going to discuss these in this episode.

There was a lot on the twitter feed this week but I pared the list down to some other important reading.

Episode 304: Thought Police

This had to be one of the more vocal episodes that we've had in a while. Definitely on-topic and thought provoking! We didn't manage to make it through most of the examples and some of them appear to be, "business as usual." We also were thrilled to welcome Naj back to the show after a bit of a hiatus.

Articles for Episode 304: Thought Police

One of the things that is said constantly on this show is that people should make their own decisions about what's going on in the country and whether it's a good or bad thing. Apparently there are those that would prefer it not be that way. In this episode we're going to talk about their attempts to convince, sway or force the American public to look at events though their particular lens. Articles for this episode:
Those that watch our Twitter feed at ECConservative will notice that not all of the articles tweeted over the past week are showing up here this time. We had something of a "twittersplosion" and the articles below are the more relevant (or less repetitive) of the activity.

Episode 199: Not As I Does

It seems like the Administration has put a new patent on the old concept of, "do as I say, not as I do." Unfortunately, given the articles for this episode, the phrase comes out more like, "not as I does." The stories up for discussion tonight hilight some of the strange decisions and outright errors that are being made by the Obama administration.

Episode 133: Greene with Envy

In this Father's Day episode, we're looking at two rather different areas where the norm is being thrown out the window. There are a number of political races where unexpected candidates have been selected in primaries that are well off the standard. Second is the continuing coverage of the oil spill in the Gulf and the continual pumping of class envy by both the media and the Democrats in Washington.

Episode 131: Striking Stories of Strikes and Unions

We've minced, we've visited Wonderland and we weren't surprised when things happened as promised. Tonight, we've got some striking news about a wide variety of things, starting at the Final Frontier and even less stable space cases.

Tonight was a very fun show! Ken and I managed to get the word "poop" in before the 5 minute mark and a couple of articles were added during the show itself. We had a lively audience in SecondLife and TalkShoe both. Additionally, I was able to get into SecondLife through AjaxLife again.

Episode 92: A Moment of Mourning

Along with the passing of the "Liberal Lion," two Buffalo Fire Fighters gave the ultimate sacrifice in searching for the source of noises that sounded like someone crying for help. We're also going to talk about the ECLA's decision on homosexual clergy and some other interesting things that have happened regarding that decision. Finally there are still communication issues when it comes to our elected officials. We've got audio from a good example of how to express our thoughts in a civil manner thanks to the USMC!
