Front Porch Political Talk Episode 82: Words to Use

We managed to return to civility for this episode and there was a lot of ground covered as well! There were a few tangents but nothing that completely kept us off the original concept of the show.

Articles for Front Porch Political Talk #82: Words to Use

Politicians normally take a great amount of care in selecting which words to use down to the emphasis and volume. In this episode we're going to look at some events of the last week and figure out where that skill disappeared to. Articles for this episode:

Front Porch Political Talk Episode 78: Some Hero

We weren't too impressed with the words and actions of some of the so-called heroes from our articles. We also went down a few odd tangents during the discussion.

The show is also now streaming with the Lanterns Radio Network. You can find out more at Lanterns.buzz.

Articles for Front Porch Political Talk #78: Some Hero

People have a habit of turning elected officials and media figures into some kind of modern-day heroes for their specific causes. In this episode we're going to look at statements and actions of a few of these people and see how this concept bears out in today's society.

We are excited to announce that the Front Porch Political Talk show is now on a new network, Lanterns Buzzz. Starting this week we will be joining a great group of folks. Be sure to check them out!

Front Porch Political Talk Episode 26: No Place For It

A good recording with this episode, definitely worth the listen!  One of the best feats I think we managed to accomplish during the recording was to talk about the protests in South Carolina as an event without muddying the waters on the "right or wrong" of either side.  I mentioned during the podcast our affiliation with Red State Talk Radio but misspoke on the domain, the correct link for Red State Talk Radio is http://www.redstatetalkradio.com.

Articles for Front Porch Political Talk #26: No Place For It

The events of the past week have been interesting to say the least! In this episode we're going to look at some things that don't really mesh with the mindsets of the "average" American, whether they have a right to or not.

Episode 293: Ho-Hum

Another episode with a lot of interaction and interest! It's always good to have more than one set of eyes looking at the details behind an article, as happened on a couple of occasions tonight.

There were several stories that we were unable to get to because of time constraints. They still deserve your attention and comments, so be sure to look at the list of articles that were in the show notes and add your thoughts.

Click Here to download the podcast, or listen using the Blubrry player (the blue ball on the right of the page).

Also, please be sure to visit our sponsor! You can get a free 30 day trial at Audible.com as well as a free audiobook by going to http://www.audibletrial.com/eastcoastconservative and signing up. The recommended book for this week is "Sh-t My Dad Says" by Justin Halpern. It's an interesting look and a reminder to delve beyond the gruff exterior of people around us.

Articles for Episode 293: Ho-Hum

For whatever reason, there are always news stories that draw a "ho-hum" response from folks. That's unfortunate because the stories they tell paint a clear picture of the machinations of the left. We're going to talk about them and see what kind of response we get from our group tonight.

Articles for this episode:
There were other articles that drew attention this week, however there's not enough time to discuss them in the podcast itself. Here they are; if you want to comment on them feel free!

Episode 281: Following the Same Rules

This episode turned out well despite TalkShoe's best efforts! There were some technical difficulties causing the live recording to be delayed and I had limited control until the end of the show. Regardless, we had a good time talking about the popular issues from the past week from a different angle.

Don't forget to check out the articles for this episode and add your comments to our conversation. Even if we didn't talk about an article we'd like to hear your thoughts on something from the list!

Articles for Episode 281: Following the Same Rules

During the last episode I talked about keeping the conversation civil, not being insulting or defamatory and looking at examples of stories where that didn't happen. Those concepts only work if both sides are playing by the same rules. It's apparent that this isn't the case, as is pointed out in the articles for this episode. The question is, what do we do about that and how should it be addressed moving forward?

Articles for this episode:
Quite a few in the extras bin for this week, all of them worth discussions of their own! Comment on them if you have something you want to share! Here are some of the other articles that were tweeted @ECConservative:

Episode 269: It Drives Me Crazy

The premise for this episode started with a book about pollution that flowed with waste about fecal matter and other things. From there, the show's content hilighted some examples of the mental sludge that passes for policy and position.

We've added a link to our new Zazzle.com store to the website. Right now there are only two products but we'll be adding more as time goes on. If you have ideas for products please email them to us at conservativepodcast@gmail.com.

Articles for Episode 269: It Drives Me Crazy

Sometimes when I'm looking through articles and I see something that drives me absolutely crazy. In this episode we're going to look through things that drive all of us crazy, and for good reason! Join us for a conversation about guns, religion, spending and soda.

A quick administrative note: This week and next week we will be recording on Monday nights at 8:30pm Eastern instead of Sunday nights. If you follow the live recording please be sure to update your schedules accordingly!

Articles for Episode 268: In a Free Society

We talk about having living in a free country, and over the years what that has meant has changed. It's been stretched, poked and prodded where some things have changed and others have stayed the same. In this episode we're going to take a look at the latest round of attempts to change things.

A quick administrative note: This week we will be recording at our usual time, however for the last two weekends of this month we will be recording on Monday nights at 8:30pm instead of Sunday nights.

Episode 163: Learning from History

In today’s world, ignorance is never bliss. On tonight’s show we’re going to look at what I consider to be a few teachable moments. There are articles on civility, consumer censorship, common sense and current candidates.

We had a bit of a late start tonight due to some family issues but after we got the ball rolling it was a laugh a minute! The list of articles actually had to be shortened quite a bit to keep from running well over our normal time!

Episode 155: Pushing More Buttons

Tonight marks the beginning of our third year in the podcast! We celebrate by recording the show late and praying that everything comes together... which is how things started in the first place. Rather than ponder the past, we're looking at some current issues that are pushing more buttons with the general public.

This is a busy travel time for most of America. Unfortunately, it's also a busy quarter for work. There is one slight logistical correction to what was said in the show. I invited folks to come back and join us for the first show in our third year. I'll blame it on being tired or just not paying attention - it will be the first episode in our fourth year!

Episode 51: Changing Course and Format but not Foundation

Tonight's show marks a change in the direction of the podcast. We are moving away from discussing news articles and leaving the campaigns alone. With the Obama victory, we as conservatives need to identify what we need to do to bring the Republican party back into power! In addition, we are going to examine the statements that are being made at change.gov and hold them up to the light. Tonight we brought in our new show format - we have decided based on traffic analysis and download counts that our audience wants to hear about conservative stances on issues! Our most popular shows by far have been those where we were talking about the issues, not when we were waxing eloquently about the failures or successes that were identified in the news. Each week, we will be taking about two or three main things. Tonight, we talked about the following things:
Tonight we wish Happy Birthday to Silverblade Dagger, one of our most dependable listeners in Second Life!

Episode 49: Obama Yanks Virtual Card Charges for Real Green Days

Really fun night tonight, despite the threat of internet and power problems for Hatton. We covered a large range of topics and had a lot of fun doing it. We are still having problems with the mixer connecting so the opening was missing yet again. I have to mention our sponsor! You can even exchange movies in any Blockbuster store... all this for $19.99 a month! Also, look for a special episode coming on Wednesday night (that's October 29th) when Ken and I will be discussing the ACORN issues and "Preaching from the Pulpit". It will be in Second Life and on Talkshoe, starting some time between 8:30pm and 9:00pm EST (5:30pm - 6:00pm SLT).

Episode 47: Sudan Investigates Bradley's Episcopal Rainbow Cub Comments

Tonight was another case where we had a lot of news to cover and not enough time to cover it! Some of that might have to do with the fact that we took the time to discuss the issues to a greater extent than usual - but that's a good thing in this case, as it appears that the Mainstream Media doesn't have the time in the 24 hour news cycle to discuss anything other than campaign styles and the financial crisis! Thankfully there were quite a few folks in the SecondLife chat room that helped Ken and I discuss things that I haven't heard about elsewhere. Tonight we introduce our first sponsor! Blockbuster's Total Access package give you access to over 85,000 titles that can arrive in your mailbox in as little as a day! You can even exchange movies in any Blockbuster store... all this for $19.99 a month! Also, be sure to listen next week, when we see if SecondLife listener Silverblade Dagger, manages to join in on voice. If he does, I've promised to have the mixer ready to close the show with a treat from the Animaniacs!

Episode 44 Out-Take Ending

We normally don't edit the show, as TalkShoe does a great job. Tonight, however, we fell victim to some technical difficulties and decided to find a way to kill the time. Here's what you didn't hear in Episode 44 at the end.
