Front Porch Political Talk Episode 68: Confusing Compassion

I think the subject of this episode might have been lost somewhere along the way but that doesn't mean that we didn't have a great discussion and share some insightful points. We did manage to get through the truly important articles with only a few tangents.

While we didn't specifically express it in the recording, our prayers go out to the families of those involved in the shooting in Orlando.

Articles for Front Porch Political Talk #68: Confusing Compassion

While it can be honestly said that most Americans have a healthy amount of compassion for their fellow human being, the ways that it is expressed can be confusing to others. In this episode we look at some examples of this. Articles for this episode:

Episode 336: One Word Descriptions

This was another fun episode to record with a "cliff-hanger" question at the end due to time constraints. Amazingly enough there were very few tangents and while we didn't get through all of the articles on the list we made it through most of them!

Articles for Episode 336: One Word Descriptions

The media likes to use as few words as possible in order to ensure they grab the audience's attention. In this episode we look at an assortment of articles and work to put one or maybe two words out there to describe our reactions. The topics may be varied but we're going to work to make sure that they don't get glossed over because of too many words. Articles for this episode:
There were a few others that we couldn't fit in to the list but still need a categorization. Here they are:

Episode 292: This Can't End Well

This was quite the lively episode! Apparently the articles I pulled illustrate more than just that specific issue of things not ending well but go beyond that. Most of the folks on the call were of the opinion that they shine a light on the plans that illustrate where the left want to take the country.

What do you think? Are these isolated or are they disparate parts of a larger plan? Is there a way for any of these items to end well? Let us know!

The recommended book for this week is "Sh-t My Dad Says" by Justin Halpern. It's an interesting look and a reminder to delve beyond the gruff exterior of people around us.

Episode 265: Looking for the Reasons

This was a tough episode to put together, as can be seen with the flood of articles in the show notes page. We have our new listener and participant Naj to thank for the subject of tonight's show, trying to at least start a conversation on the reasons behind the violence that doesn't often make national headlines like the sensational stories do. It was an educational and encouraging conversation to say the least!

Episode 232: Dumb and Dumber

Well, this episode did not go the way I expected it to!  Yes, we talked about some brain-melting levels of dumb answers but the conversation and my concepts at the end of the call didn't really line up with where I thought they were going to.
