Articles for Front Porch Political Talk #21: The Horror of Things to Come

Last week we talked about predictions and their results and this week we're going to discuss articles that indicate how things might look in the future. These aren't crackpot predictions, rather they're current events with ominous overtones.

These extra articles are worth including even though they didn't fall in with the show's theme for the night:

Episode 295: Progessive Infection

Every week when I post a new episode I try to come up with a different way to say that it was a fun one. While this week is no different, it wasn't just fun it was also educational. Looking at the current activities and how they all represent symptoms of this Progressive infection that has been eating at the concepts of our Constitutional founding has been an eye-opening experience. We even have to admit that many of the political planks espoused by both parties are rife with the stain!

Something else that I do in every episode is explain how folks can participate. This will become even more important as we continue to look at this infection and expose it to the light of day. Considerate and civil discourse is needed in every episode and all are invited to participate! Even if you can't join in for our Sunday night recording sessions, take some time and share your thoughts, even if they are simply to agree with us.

It's time for a new book recommendation from our sponsor! You can get a free 30 day trial at Audible.com as well as a free audio book by going to http://www.audibletrial.com/eastcoastconservative and signing up. I've been using my Audible subscription to listen to The Liberty Amendments by Mark Levin. They list not only the changes that Mr. Levin recommends but also the historical back-story for each one. This listening experience will have any jaw on the floor, both with where the country has gone and where politicians promise to take it. We'll actually be taking some time during upcoming episodes to discuss these proposals at length, so if you want to participate in them take advantage of an Audible credit and get the book now!

Articles for Episode 295: Progessive Infection

After my comment last week on the supposed good intentions of those proposing government action, I would be remiss in not talking about the opposite. This week we're going to talk about the counter to the concept of government intervention and discuss articles where the government has gone to lengths and depths that it was never intended to be found.

I've had a very eye-opening experience that I also wanted to share. As a part of my Audible subscription I've been listening to The Liberty Amendments by Mark Levin. In the book, he outlines Constitutional Amendments aimed at bringing the Federal government back into the shape originally considered by the Founding Fathers. More than that, he brings in Federalist and Anti-Federalist writings, court decisions, other historical backup and compares that to the actions of the government since it's founding. Articles for this episode:
More from the twitter feed this week.  There's actually other articles to be found there but I trimmed them down to a manageable gaggle for reading and commenting.

Episode 294: They Think They Know

We had a fun time talking about what people thought they knew… on a variety of different issues. In most of the cases the concensus was that the people involved didn't think much beyond the "good idea".

One thing I mentioned in the intro that I want to reiterate here in text. That is your opportunity to be a part of the podcast. We don't care where you are or your "stated political leanings" so long as you're willing to join in the conversation and keep things civil. Our podcast isn't strictly about the East Coast, nor does everyone that participates have to be a conservative! If you feel you've got something to add and can verbalize it well, feel free to call in.

The recommended book for this week is "Sh-t My Dad Says" by Justin Halpern. It's an interesting look and a reminder to delve beyond the gruff exterior of people around us. Despite what Joesf says in the recording, we're not sponsored by Rosetta Stone... as funny as the bit was!

Articles for Episode 294: They Think They Know

I have long thought that most government actions, especially when it comes to domestic policy, start with a nugget of good will or a good idea and then becomes corrupted as it makes its way through the system. In this episode we're going to be examining the actions that could cause such changes to happen to a good idea as to make them profoundly bad.

Episode 292: This Can't End Well

This was quite the lively episode! Apparently the articles I pulled illustrate more than just that specific issue of things not ending well but go beyond that. Most of the folks on the call were of the opinion that they shine a light on the plans that illustrate where the left want to take the country.

What do you think? Are these isolated or are they disparate parts of a larger plan? Is there a way for any of these items to end well? Let us know!

Episode 268: In a Free Society

There are several areas that we talked about where our freedoms are being changed or challenged. We didn't make it through all of the topics on the list but it was quite the lively discussion!

We've added a link to our new Zazzle.com store to the website. Right now there are only two products but we'll be adding more as time goes on. If you have ideas for products please email them to us at conservativepodcast@gmail.com.

Articles for Episode 268: In a Free Society

We talk about having living in a free country, and over the years what that has meant has changed. It's been stretched, poked and prodded where some things have changed and others have stayed the same. In this episode we're going to take a look at the latest round of attempts to change things.

A quick administrative note: This week we will be recording at our usual time, however for the last two weekends of this month we will be recording on Monday nights at 8:30pm instead of Sunday nights.

There are many other stories as well… not as many as last week, but they are still worth checking out!
