Front Porch Political Talk Episode 91: Scapegoats and Excuses

This was definitely a wide-ranging episode with a number of different areas covered. I think the point was made, with many different examples of people or places finding excuses for their actions or blaming others.

Articles for Front Porch Political Talk #91: Scapegoats and Excuses

One of the reasons for the groundswell of derision against politicians is their constant refusal to admit their errors. Instead there is a constant search for scapegoats and excuses why policies fail and elections are lost. In this episode we look at a selection of those along with other news.

Front Porch Political Talk Episode 84: Not About Politics

It was pretty clear from the news we discussed that the campaigns have nothing to do with the political issues facing the electorate. This was a good discussion with a number of points raised.

My apologies for the delays getting recent episodes posted.  I'm working on getting back to a more "regular" schedule.

Articles for Front Porch Political Talk #84: Not About Politics

I've come to the conclusion that while the results of the election will be pivotal in many ways, the campaigns themselves have nothing at all to do with politics. What we are seeing is a devolved narrative bent on personalities and prejudices. The articles for this epsidoe point this out in more ways than one. Articles for this episode:

Front Porch Political Talk Episode 39: It's All in the Presentation

This episode was much more sedate than a few in the past, probably because of the weather and the day more than the topic. We definitely hit the target with the topic though and would love to hear listener comments on anything you think we missed!

Articles for Front Porch Political Talk #39: It's All in the Presentation

Sometimes it's not in what you say but how you say it. In this episode the articles are centered around not just the substance of what is being said but also the structure. We'll see how that impacts with reality.

Articles for Front Porch Political Talk #3: Freedom to be Ignorant

There is always talk of freedoms and exercising rights in our country. What many people don't recognize is the fact that folks do have the right to maintain a level of ignorance. This has been perpetuated by governmental actions, a growing media and control of the news cycle. In this episode we are going to look at some articles that point this out.

Episode 358: Like a Bad Rerun

While the themes repeated, the content was somewhat unique. We had a good time after our hiatus talking about issues that come up again and again.

I did it again and I apologize! The time slipped away from me this week in terms of getting the show updated. There is also a tidbit here, we're recording this week on Saturday not Sunday so watch the Talkshoe site for the schedule.

Episode 345: Let's Just Talk

This episode went better than planned. It didn't exactly follow the article list but we did talk about them. Two new things were introduced as well, the Mad Lib opening as well as the Constitutional Quiz Cards. Both worked well as a part of the show.

I'll be posting the words for next week's Mad Lib on Wednesday or Thursday. You can be a part of the show by adding your words! The more we get the more interesting the results can be!

Well, in terms of busted we definitely pointed out a few things that were! From the VA to the history and crisis in Israel to the Affordable Care Act and more, there was plenty to talk about. As usual, we ran out of time but there will be more next week!

During the show Joesf brought up the lyrics for the song The Cult of Personality by Living Colour. Click on the song title to read them for yourself.

Articles for Episode 340: No Need for Fiction

Over the past week I've found a number of parody or satire articles that made their way to Facebook and/or Twitter as if they were true stories. In this episode we're going to look at articles that outline why we don't need our blood pressure raised by those parodies, real news is bad enough!

Something interesting, in last week's episode we has a number of visitors in Second Life that meant to bring more disruption than discussion. Unfortunately they partially succeeded, as they brought the sim down. In doing so, however, they failed to recognize that their presence increased the traffic to the site, the podcast and the sim. Our numbers have hit new highs and this week I was notified that our Twitter feed was added to the "Top Political Brains" list at Ticckle.com which apparently is an opinion conversation site.

Articles for this episode:
These extra articles are also sources of ire for a variety of reasons.  There's more after the break...
