Front Porch Political Talk Episode 88: Unrealistic Expectations

As mentioned in the show notes, this is the last recording for the month of November. Be sure to check out our Facebook page for updates and videos until December 4th!

Articles for Front Porch Political Talk #88: Unrealistic Expectations

The voting is done and the polls are closed, Americans have voiced their choices and the results have had some interesting impacts. In this episode we're going to look at a number of articles touching on the election, Veteran's Day, civics and more.

There are also some other big things going on. This is going to be the last scheduled podcast for this month due to scheduling conflicts all around. The Facebook page is going to see more activity but the weekly show is taking a break until the first Sunday in December. Additionally, we're changing venues in SecondLife effective tonight. I'll be taking the next two weeks to get things sorted out. Articles for this episode:

Front Porch Political Talk Episode 62: Where is Their…

We had another great time recording this episode. As usual the input from the rest of the team brought up items that I had not even considered. Lots of food for thought in this recording, hope you enjoy! To answer the question, no we did not find the various theoretical body parts.

Articles for Front Porch Political Talk #62: Where is Their...

We've talked about people's intentions, understanding and plans. In this episode we ask where various theoretical parts are. We look at the US and abroad to see how plans bring up questions of sanity.

For those that follow the Facebook page you'll notice that several recent episodes were posted.  When we switched the domain name it had the unexpected consequence of breaking the RSS/Twitter/Facebook link.  That has now been corrected.

Front Porch Political Talk Episode 55: Smoke and Mirrors

I don't know if we managed to fully expose the man behind the curtain in this episode but we covered a lot of different topics during the conversation! We didn't get through all of the articles but we had a fun time. There's also some interesting tidbits on security, media coverage and marketing thrown in.

We've all heard that magic is nothing more than smoke and mirrors, in this episode we are going to talk about how that term applies to politicians and real life. From odd products to twisted ideas and shady news, are we really seeing what we think?

Front Porch Political Talk Episode 45: Losing Patience

I think this was one of the most cathartic and complete shows that we've had in a long time. Every week we end up with a lot of questions, regardless of the conversation or subject. In this episode I started off rather angry and the conversation actually helped me put some of the things that I was getting emotional about in a different light. Often having a different perspective or deeper insight into an issue can invoke more thought and I think that's what happened here.

That's one of the big reasons we do this show. Sure, we have fun with different topics and try not to rehash the same stories that are brought up by other shows but at the end of the day it's about the sharing of ideas and insights. We don't have to agree on everything all the time; rather we respect each other's right to their opinion. Be sure to share your thoughts on the articles or our take on them using one of the many methods provided. We'd love to hear from you!

After being subjected to a wide number of political comments, debates and retorts I am beginning to lose my patience. In this episode we are going to talk about a few of the subjects that have raised my blood pressure and search for resolution.

Front Porch Political Talk Episode 34: What to Believe

This was a great show and we had a lot of fun with it!  During the show, Toawa mentioned an interview about the Iran nuclear deals and followed up with a link to the interview with someone familiar with the IAEA standards. A transcript of that interview can be found at http://scotthorton.org/interviews/2015/08/21/tariq-rauf/.

Episode 330: Striking an Accord

This episode turned out to be a good example of how to look beyond the headline to the content hidden underneath. It seems like so many of the stories had more to tell than the title implied. It was a great conversation!

At the end of the episode is a dedication to one of the show's big supporters. Jimmie Jones, my step-father and role model passed away in April and I felt it only fitting to dedicate this show to him.

Articles for Episode 330: Striking an Accord

While compromise is not a dirty word, there are still concepts and beliefs that can not be given up on. In this episode we're going to discuss areas where reaching an agreement sometimes works and sometimes doesn't.

My apologies for the short notice on last week's episode. There were personal issues that had to be dealt with. An explanation will be made during this recording.

Articles for Episode 283: Disagreeable Listeners

It's no secret that there are lots of things we hear in the news that we don't like. That's part of the basis and material for this podcast! In this episode, however, we're going to talk what some of the things that elected and public officials are saying they are hearing and don't like. It seems that the distaste for the goings-on in the beltway (and some places beyond) are hitting people from all political bents the wrong way.

Articles for this episode:
Twitter was a little slow this week for us. It might have been the preparation for the Memorial Day weekend or just a slow news cycle. There are some other stories that should be read, here's what didn't make the episode this week:

Episode 180: Other Peoples Business

Sorry for the delay in posting the download link for this episode.  I've been a bit under the weather.

It seems that folks have nothing better to do than get in to other peoples business these days!  In this episode we take a look at some articles that give examples of this, from the local and state level to the President's words on Israel and their sharp retort.

Click Here to download the show or open the Blubrry player on the right (the blue round thing). Thanks for listening!
