Articles for Episode 295: Progessive Infection

After my comment last week on the supposed good intentions of those proposing government action, I would be remiss in not talking about the opposite. This week we're going to talk about the counter to the concept of government intervention and discuss articles where the government has gone to lengths and depths that it was never intended to be found.

I've had a very eye-opening experience that I also wanted to share. As a part of my Audible subscription I've been listening to The Liberty Amendments by Mark Levin. In the book, he outlines Constitutional Amendments aimed at bringing the Federal government back into the shape originally considered by the Founding Fathers. More than that, he brings in Federalist and Anti-Federalist writings, court decisions, other historical backup and compares that to the actions of the government since it's founding. Articles for this episode:
More from the twitter feed this week.  There's actually other articles to be found there but I trimmed them down to a manageable gaggle for reading and commenting.

Episode 290: American Justice

Summer time, as those that have stuck with the podcast over time, leads to episodes being posted extremely late. Thank you for your patience!  We talked about quite a few different cases, including what's happened since the verdict from the Zimmerman trial was released.

Click Here to download the podcast, or listen using the Blubrry player (the blue ball on the right of the page).

Also, please be sure to visit our sponsor! You can get a free 30 day trial at Audible.com as well as a free audiobook by going to http://www.audibletrial.com/eastcoastconservative and signing up. The recommended book for this week is "Sh-t My Dad Says" by Justin Halpern. It's an interesting look and a reminder to delve beyond the gruff exterior of people around us.

Articles for Episode 290: American Justice

On rare occasion a story will break that other outlets don't get a chance to talk about before we do. With the timing of the Zimmerman verdict, we actually have the opportunity to be ahead of the "big names" with our thoughts and comments/

In this episode we are going to look at the results of the case as well as a number of other stories that focus on the American justice system.

Articles for this episode:
There are some other stories that caught our eye this week. Had the timing been different they may have been the main discussion. They deserve our attention as well, unfortunately that attention will have to be relegated to the comments section. Here are some other reading suggestions:

Episode 250: More Scary Political Games

Yeah, I know we could have talked more about the debate, unemployment or other things that have folks riled up.  There's a lot of issues happening and rather than just throw our two cents after what other folks have said, I always like to look for the stuff not on the front page.

Tonight we had Tom Clement, current Chair of the Republican Party of Second Life as well as my previously "mysterious" co-worker, Marshall, on the call!

Articles for Episode 250: More Scary Political Games

After the video comment from yesterday, I found some other scary political games for us to discuss on this episode.  This is what we have lined up for this time 'round:
I started to line up articles about the debate, and there are some in the "extra stories" list. That said, everyone else is talking about the debate. I thought it would be more useful to discuss other things. Here are the other articles I pulled this week:

Episode 237: Follow-Up, Decisions and Beyond

I purposefully did not want to make the Supreme Court ruling on the Health Care mandate the primary topic of the evening... for a number of reasons.  First, there are other news items out there that need to be discussed and second because it's been talked to death.

While Ken and I are in agreement on our opinions of the ruling, not everyone that participated in the call was.  You know what, that's just fine.  We'll continue to watch the situation because I think it's universally accepted that this is not the end of the line for the fight against the left on this front.

Episode 236: Poor Planning, Bad Ideas and Desperation

Well, this episode did run a bit off plan, however there was a lot of good conversation!  Instead of starting off right away with the normal flow of things, we began our show talking about the results of the Egyptian election.

Articles for Episode 236: Poor Planning, Bad Ideas and Desperation

I know, I know, the subject is somewhat nebulous, but with the range of articles we had this week, it was the best way to summarize them! We've got Kerry, Obama, the military, Holder, MSNBC, Romney, the NSA and even a cheapskate moment. This episode may end up a bit chaotic but we'll have fun getting it there, join us if you can. Recording starts at 8:30pm Eastern or you can listen any time at http://www.eastcoastconservative.com. Articles are posted at Here are the articles for the episode.
There was a lot going on in the news this week. I'm pretty sure I missed some things, but here are some other articles ripe for the commenting:

Episode 216: Skin in the Game

During the recording I realized that maybe this episode would have been better titled, "S*** in the Game" instead!  We had a good time recording this episode with the new changes made in Second Life.  Be sure to check out the pictures of our new home in that virtual environment.

Episode 215: Dirty Jobs

Well, we didn't let a little ditch distract us from catching up and recording this week's podcast! We followed the same articles - to a degree - and had a fun time for a Monday night recording. With the primary in Ken's home state tomorrow, we spent some time on that subject and talked about how dirty a job politics really is.
