Episode 363: Beginning to End

This was a great summary show for us and for the year. There was also a big announcement that folks will start to see beginning tomorrow. Yes, I'm late on this episode and yes I have a good excuse. Two of them actually…

First, it's New Years and work is super busy. Second, it's the end of the line for our podcast under the title of "East Coast Conservative Podcast". Beginning with the first episode of 2015, there are a number of changes that are going to happen:

  • Show Title is changing to the Front Porch Politics Show.
  • Recording time will be starting at 9:00pm instead of 8:30pm.
  • Work is beginning on integration with a sponsorship model for content.  The more sponsors we get, the more content we can produce.

Click Here to download the podcast, or listen using the Blubrry player (the blue ball on the right of the page).

Thank you so much for continuing to support the show!  I'm making these changes "in-place" in order to keep the history of the East Coast Conservative Podcast alive but there will be a new site and other resources released as soon as New Year's Insanity is done with.

Episode 335: Missing the Point

Wow, give us a week off and a good topic and we come out swinging! This was an absolute blast of a podcast and we managed to get through some of the most interesting articles before I had to call time.

In this episode we discussed a number of different articles that had more than one point, regardless of how the author wanted things to be read. We worked hard not to miss them but have a listen and let us know if something fell through the cracks.

Episode 264: Hot Potato

We really had a fun time on the podcast!  Playing "Hot Potato" with a few of the subjects outlined in the show notes turned in to a number of meaningful conversations and discussion ideas.  If you have comments, be sure to post them to the site or email them to conservativepodcast@gmail.com.

Please be sure to vote in our merchandise poll to identify those things you'd be willing to buy from the podcast.  We're in the home stretch for the poll and I want as much input as possible before investing in the preparation of the products.

Articles for Episode 264: Hot Potato

Looking over the articles that were collected over the past week, it was rather difficult to settle on a single subject for this episode. I ended up picking three issues that are currently being bandied about by the media and political pundits so we could add our input to them.

Before I give the list of articles, I also wanted to share a new site that I found that isn't really an article. Pop Vox is a site that allows you to see bills that are going through the cogs of our political machine and share your opinions on them.

Here are the articles for this episode:
Like I said, there were a lot of articles to pick from this week. This show could have gone a number of different ways. Please, if there are stories you'd like to discuss that we didn't make it to, feel free to add your comments below!

Episode 251: Looks Pretty Bad

Well, as usual we didn't make it through all of the articles - actually, we didn't make it beyond the Kooks Among Us segment.  I tried but it just wasn't in the cards or the conversation this week.  Tom Clement of rposl.org joined in as the co-host and then we were also joined by Joesf as well as an unexpected visit from my mom!

Click Here to download the podcast, or listen using the Blubrry player (the blue ball on the right of the page).

As the box says at the top of the site, we're comping to the end of the nomination period for the 8th annual People's Choice Podcast Awards.  Please take the time to collect their 22 favorite podcasts (hopefully this is one of them) and nominate them for an award!  Nominations are open until October 15th and you can only cast one ballot.  We're asking for your nominations in the "Peoples Choice" and "Politics / News" categories.

Articles for Episode 251: Looks Pretty Bad

Originally I wanted to do an all "tinfoil hat" episode this time but other news prevailed. There are things out there that don't look good, for both parties. This episode is going to be broken into two segments.
  1. Kooks Among Us:
  2. Bad News for Obama:
There were a lot of other things in the news this week. Some of them could have fit in the theme of the show but there isn't enough room to cover every one! Feel free to bring up any of these in the comments section.

Episode 227: Terrorists, Taxes and Truths

All I can say is... WOW!  Tonight's show started off with a blast and took off from there.  We had Joesf and Shorahmin from SecondLife call in to comment on articles and a very lively crew in both the TalkShoe and SecondLife chats.  This made for a very energetic show... one that kept me on my toes from beginning to end.

Normally we don't roll over articles from an episode to the next week, however because of time we had to stop before we got to the Republican's replacement health care proposals.  I've made the commitment to talk about that one next week.

Articles for Episode 227: Terrorists, Taxes and Truths

It seems like we do this a lot. The media, working to keep viewers and ratings, focus on loud things that mean little. While the press is off investigating South American shenanigans, we're looking closer to home tonight. We're talking about taxes and Earth Day.

Here are the articles we've got lined up for tonight:
And those articles that didn't make it in the list. They're good reading as well, just didn't match the theme of the episode:

Episode 221: Where is Our Apology?

Ya know, it really helps when I actually post the podcast episode to the website in a timely manner!  Sorry for the delay in getting this one online folks!  We had some fun talking about a variety of things that officials (or public figures) apologized for and other things that will never get one.

Click Here to download the podcast, or listen using the Blubrry player (the blue ball on the right of the page).

One interesting impact of not posting the episode until later is the fact that I get to include a comment thread I received via IM from one of our regular listeners:

D: I don't listen to Randi myself...I find her too harsh. but I don't think your comparison holds water. Rush is on what, 6,000 stations and is in the news virtually every day. Randi is on what, 6? She might talk a lot of trash, but if it's under the radar, nobody will ever pay attention to it.
ECC: That's akin to saying nobody's going to listen to the pastor of a small church that says he's going to have a Qua'ran BBQ, right?

Episode 206: So Many Bad Ideas, So Little Time

Well folks, this time the show definitely did not go where it was originally planned!  Oh sure, we got through the opening article with all of its puns and groans, but after that, a completely different topic took center stage.  Luckily, it still falls in line with the "Bad idea" theme of the episode so the title didn't change.  Most everything else did.

Click Here to download the podcast, or listen using the Blubrry player (the blue ball on the right of the page).

We talked about Internet Censorship, specifically, HR 3261, otherwise known as the "Stop Online Piracy Act" which is currently before the House Judiciary Committee and is expected to pass Congress as written.

Here are the links to other sites that we referenced in the podcast:

Articles for Episode 206: So Many Bad Ideas, So Little Time

For some reason, when presented with a number of choices, it seems that people lately have been taking the worst option available. In this episode we talk about a number of different articles were bad decisions seem to be the flavor of the day. Here are the articles we've lined up to discuss:
Of course, there was more going on in the news this week. Here are the articles that didn't make the list:

Episode 204: Gone Too Far

This episode includes an interview with Raymond V. Davis III, independent candidate for US Congress for West Virginia's 1st district.  You can find out more about Raymond at his website, http://raymondvdavisiiiforuscongress.webs.com/.

We also had time to talk about a few news articles in the episode!  As I said in the show notes, some things have gone too far.  We had a fun discussion about some of those items.
