Articles for Front Porch Political Talk #86: Pain, Rage and Trump

As we draw closer to the end of this election cycle, it's time again to bring out the "Bitter Clingers" trope. In this instance it's not just guns and God, it's debt, jobs, food and in some cases common sense. In this episode we look at a number of those items from the week's news. Articles for this episode:

Front Porch Political Talk Episode 70: Ridiculous Recap

For a reflection show, this one had quite a few tangents and side conversations that made things more interesting! It was fun, educational and a bit more rambunctious that many. We also jumped all over the place in terms of articles so the show notes article list order isn't exactly right.

Front Porch Political Talk Episode 68: Confusing Compassion

I think the subject of this episode might have been lost somewhere along the way but that doesn't mean that we didn't have a great discussion and share some insightful points. We did manage to get through the truly important articles with only a few tangents.

While we didn't specifically express it in the recording, our prayers go out to the families of those involved in the shooting in Orlando.

While it can be honestly said that most Americans have a healthy amount of compassion for their fellow human being, the ways that it is expressed can be confusing to others. In this episode we look at some examples of this. Articles for this episode:

Front Porch Political Talk Episode 57: In What Reality

This episode was a bit more scattershot when it came to sticking to the theme, with a lot of tangents and a few distractions. We did manage to answer the question a few times even without hitting all of the articles.

As mentioned at the end of the episode, there may be an extended break this month due to schedule conflicts. I'll update the website and Facebook page as necessary for the next episode's timing.

Articles for Front Porch Political Talk #57: In What Reality

There is a well known quote from Through the Looking Glass in which the Hatter says, "We're all mad here." In this episode we are going to look at articles that seem to make that quote come true today. The overlying theme asks the question, "in what reality is this right?"

Episode 344: Your Policy is Showing

I'm not sure if we made our point tonight or not. We definitely highlighted some policies that are showing and even brought up the concept of action in Iraq as a way to distract the media from domestic news. That said, there were a few odd tangent circles that might make folks look at certain concepts from a different angle.

Two shout-outs from this episode. First, to Joesf a mote in the eye award for playing devil's advocate so perfectly on the college age free speech concept. Also, a mention of Rat Nation which is a fun blog I've started reading. They are where I saw the article about the Tiny House movement mentioned in this episode.

Articles for Episode 344: Your Policy is Showing

Every now and then we have to take a break from questioning the intelligence or sanity of various positions and point out the policy, or at least the perception of policy, that is laid out in the news. The democrats have done a fine job showing us where their priorities lie and in this episode we're going to look at those. Articles for this episode:

Episode 291: Getting Away With It

In this episode we talked about how elected officials, media outlets and others are, "getting away with it," when it comes to pushing their own agenda rather than doing what should be considered their jobs. From the Texas abortion law to the Justice Department/NSA and even Obama and the media regarding the George Zimmerman verdict and Stand Your Ground, they're still getting away with it!

Articles for Episode 290: American Justice

On rare occasion a story will break that other outlets don't get a chance to talk about before we do. With the timing of the Zimmerman verdict, we actually have the opportunity to be ahead of the "big names" with our thoughts and comments/

In this episode we are going to look at the results of the case as well as a number of other stories that focus on the American justice system.

Articles for this episode:
There are some other stories that caught our eye this week. Had the timing been different they may have been the main discussion. They deserve our attention as well, unfortunately that attention will have to be relegated to the comments section. Here are some other reading suggestions:

Episode 280: Communication Necessities

Administrative comment: Continually apologizing for the late posts and then posting late the following week is getting a tad repetitive, so I'll explain rather than make excuses. There are some big things being planned for the podcast as well as a new endeavor. Nothing is going to change for quite some time (in Internet terms of time, at least), however if you're a blogger, podcaster or vodcaster that is interested in hearing more about the rumblings of an interesting project, contact me directly.

This week we talked about the things necessary for a good, civil conversation. We also identified the real definition of the concept and also what it is not. Civility does not equate with watering down or with changing a message just to make it palatable to a wide audience. If you want to hear more, listen to the podcast!

Episode 277: Do You Hear What I Hear

This episode introduces a slightly different format, with part of the intro moved to the ending which lets us get started much faster. It was a fun episode, though there are a couple of areas where I should have censored Shorahmin. We'll forgive him his BS lines... though the media is offered no similar reprieve.

We've added Bitcoin donations for those that trade in that virtual currency.
