Articles for Episode 279: Are They Even Trying?

Sometimes you look at the stories in the news and ask yourself, "are they even trying?" In this episode we are going to look at some of the things that are being said as well as what the media purports is action by elected officials, candidates and others. What do you think, are they even trying? Articles for this episode:
Not as much in the extras bin for this week, but some good ones in there regardless. Comment on them if you have something you want to share! Here are some of the other articles that were tweeted @ECConservative:

Episode 278: Safety Precautions

A bit late getting this episode posted to the website, sorry about that. It was a good conversation about the events in Boston, while working hard to discuss new items and not simply go on about the same issues everyone else had been talking about.

There was quite the conversation about schooling, especially home schooling in light of some of the articles that have come out lately. Which camp do you fall in? Do you think parents should keep their kids in the system and fight the bureaucracy from within or pull their kids out and challenge the system on behalf of others?

Articles for Episode 278: Safety Precautions

After the events of the past week, what are we doing to keep things safe? What's happening in the government to maintain security levels and how are educators working to help our children stay safe? Based on the articles for this episode, it's a rather confusing and twisted answer. Join us to discuss these and other things!

While it's not on the article list, we will be talking about the bombing in Boston as well.  I am specifically not including any of the "liberals had their mind made up," "Bostonians gave up their guns" or any other of the rants that have been flowing around the 'net with reckless abandon.  We're really shooting for, "different words in a different order," this week.

Articles for this episode:
Twitter was a-flitter with a lot of different news stories this week. While we might not get a chance to talk about them, give the a read and add your comments to the conversation about them. Here are some of the other articles that were tweeted @ECConservative:

Episode 277: Do You Hear What I Hear

This episode introduces a slightly different format, with part of the intro moved to the ending which lets us get started much faster. It was a fun episode, though there are a couple of areas where I should have censored Shorahmin. We'll forgive him his BS lines... though the media is offered no similar reprieve.

We've added Bitcoin donations for those that trade in that virtual currency.

Articles for Episode 277: Do You Hear What I Hear

When you're listening to the news (or watching or reading), what do you hear? What do you see? There's an element of control that is being exerted by both the media and political groups. We've said this before but there are some really big examples of stories that won't be getting that much exposure but still need to be known.

Articles for this episode:
There was a whole other line of discussion that we could have taken this week! There will probably be a few videos recorded from these articles, but if you want to add your own comments please feel free!

Video Comment 9: When is it Conspiracy?

So there are times when something sounds like a tinfoil-hat conspiracy, but what is that tipping point?  In this video I talk about the claim made by an attorney that police actions to confiscate his weapons weren't accidental, rather they were an attempt to see how far the NY SAFE Act could be pushed.

How much of this is real and how much is paranoia is something the general public may never know.  Here's a link to part of the story: http://www.wben.com/pages/16021389.php?contentType=4&contentId=12784239  I've tweeted other relevant articles as well.

Video Comment 8: Two Logical Questions

Well, the morning commute concept seems to work well and so I put it to use yet again.  Never fear, when you see both hands off the wheel, I'm stopped!

While I bring up two specific issues in this video episode, the questions I raise can be asked of any political response to "an issue."  It happens that as examples I use gun control and standardized testing.

Episode 276: Less than Ideal

We had a fun time talking about the things that are less than ideal in the country. It was an interesting conversation with some side-tangents aside from my frantic attempts to keep on subject.

Articles for Episode 276: Less than Ideal

Rather than be complacent in letting the crisis of the moment, whichever that may be, set the tone for the show, we're going to discuss some issues that have come up in the past week that point out that things are much less than ideal. Articles for this episode:
Here are some other articles from the week that deserve your attention. If you have comments on these, post them!

Video Comment 7: Nerdy Dirty Words

I've moved the video comment recording from the house into the car and like the results.  In this video I share the concept of a game that my kids have been playing called the "Nerdy Dirty Word" where you take an every-day word and turn it into a game of verbal tag.  This seems to be a running game that politicians and the media use, though we put the label "hot-button issue" on it.

Episode 275: Direct Your Attention

Please ignore the man behind the curtain! Actually, with the theme of "look over there" firmly embedded, we managed to make it through most of the articles and ended up closing on a bit of a different note than originally expected.
