Episode 262: Lemmings or Thelma and Louise?

It's funny what happens when you plan out an episode like this one.  I wasn't sure what the call-in volume was going to be like and it turned out to be pretty big!  My co-worker Marshall joined us (he's the one that stated that, "know I know how Juan Willaims feels.") as well as just about the entire regular crew!  The show started off somber but when we started the political talk it turned into something else entirely!

One thing I failed to mention was our sponsor, Audible.com.  You can get a free 30 day trial as well as a free audiobook by going to http://www.audibletrial.com/eastcoastconservative and signing up.  The recommended book for this week is The Tyranny of Cliches: How Liberals Cheat in the War of Ideas by  Jonah Goldberg.

Articles for Episode 262: Lemmings or Thelma and Louise?

It's the end of 2012 and it looks like our pals inside the beltway are all auditioning for the role of Enigmatic Good/Bad Guy. It appears that the nation is going rumble past that dreaded deadline for sequestration. We're going to try and figure out if it's because the folks in DC are more like Thelma and Louise or lemmings.

Here are the articles for the podcast:
And of course there's other stuff to read!

Episode 261: Coal for Christmas

Something of an odd Christmas present, but the show's recorded and ready for download several hours early!  There was a scheduling conflict so Ken and I decided that rather than push the recording off we'd do the show at 2pm today.

We talked about the folks that should and should not get a lump of coal for Christmas this year.  I'll be posting a picture of my new voter registration card as well, following up on a promise made a few episodes back.

Articles for Episode 261: Coal for Christmas

This episode is being recorded earlier in the day (2:00pm Eastern) due to a scheduling conflict this evening.

What can I say? There are some folks that just deserve coal in their stockings. We're going to be talking about them, and some that don't deserve it as well. We didn't want to talk about just the gun issue, but it is on the list today.

Here are the articles:
And yup, there's more to discuss as well. Here are the stories that didn't make the list.

Episode 260: For the Children

This was, by and far, one of the most difficult episodes to decide to do.  In the end, I felt that we would be negligent in our duty if we did not.  As I state in the opening of the podcast, we are still coming to grips with the realities of what happened on 12/14/2012.  That said, there are political ramifications of the two "hot button" areas that are being blamed.

As heavy as my heart was going in to the recording, my loving son helped me in his own way - our "moment of silence" was interrupted when he decided he needed his daddy for something, and nothing can stop him when that happens.

Articles for Episode 260: For the Children

For this episode we are going to tackle a tough subject. The events of 12/14/2012 are still fresh in our minds and we wanted to talk about our perspectives on this as well as the things our government is doing that will impact our children. Here are the articles we might talk about in this episode.
There is a lot more reading that came up, here are those articles

Episode 259: Bowl of Nuts

We had an interesting time talking about some of the crazy things going on in the country, a good joke that gets ruined in translation to PG and actually made it through all of the articles this week!

Articles for Episode 259: Bowl of Nuts

I'm not sure if it's the holiday season, the weather or the pending doom of the Mayan calander. Either we're going crazy or it's the new normal. Tonight we're going to talk about fascinating stuff, though sometimes not fascinating in a good way. Here are the articles we've got to dissect:
Of course there's a lot more going on out there. Here's some more reading

Video Episode 6: Starting the Conversation

After last week's episode I felt I had to come up with some avenue to start a conversation about truly effecting some level of change in our country.  There was a letter to the editor brought up on Facebook today and I decided to use it as a gateway for conversation about some of the cultural issues impacting the fiscal stability of the nation.

Episode 258: Failures At Home and Abroad

In this episode we talked about the failures of both parties and were joined by a new caller, Naj, and gave an excellent example of how people of different political viewpoints can share some ideas and politely disagree on others.  The failures are happening right now from both parties and in some cases nothing has changed.

This episode officially starts our 6th season!  With it we launch our new website as well.  We're also working to bring back podcast related merchandise.  Keep an eye on the website for more details!

Articles for Episode 258: Failures At Home and Abroad

Back to our regular time, we've got a bit of a doozie planned. Heading into the end of the year we see the status quo acting exactly as expected. There are things that need to be dealt with both domestically and abroad and the handling of it leaves much to be desired.

Before we get into the articles, I have to ask a favor. Please go to Red State Talk Radio's 2012 Talk Show of the Year poll and vote for our show. We can't do this without your support. Here are the articles for this episode:
You can bet there were other articles. Here they are:
